I hope to see you at the show at Mission Hall this weekend. I will be at the opening Friday evening and would be happy to meet you any other time through the weekend. There will be nibbles as well as Quails Gate's wonderful wine. I have 3 fall and winter paintings that were juried in to the show.

Brent and I have had a very full time this fall with lots of visitors, a wonderful trip along the Seine and then a bike trip around the Netherlands to reduce the calorie intake. We also did some really good rides on our own turf, around Skaha Lake, Wood Lake and out to Coldstream. We feel lucky to live in such a beautiful part of the world. As well, we just returned from a trip to the Coast and a bit of time on the Island. We were really lucky to have great weather! Now it's good to get back to Wednesday painting at the Rotary Centre with Kelowna Painters and spending time in my studio!

Cheers!

I'm excited to announce that some of my latest work will be showing at the Peachland Art Gallery from Oct 6th through Nov. 4th. This Kelowna Painters Studio Society show opening will be Sat Oct 6th from 12 to 3pm. We hope to see you at the opening but you can check the PAG website for open hours outside of the opening afternoon.

The KPSS are a group of 12 established local artists who paint together each Wednesday at the Rotary Art Centre Sept to April. We've been painting for the show with excitement this year and will have 82 paintings hung.

In 2016, I painted a banner of a night scene of the Paramount theatre on Bernard Avenue as a fun tribute to the downtown theatre we still really miss. The banners were installed by the City of Kelowna in celebration of Canada's 150th birthday. I've rendered it on a large birch panel for this show as “Last Night at the Paramount”.

One of the other large paintings is a view that took my breath away at Arrowleaf Winery this June.  The others are all Okanagan views from some of my bike rides. We spent a lot of time on our bikes this summer prepping for our bike ride around Holland in September and so often I felt grateful to live in this great little city. There will also be one from my Coastal series that is a favourite spot at Hopkins Landing on the Sunshine Coast.

I wish you all the best this Thanksgiving season!

Here's a fresh reminder about the Kelowna Painters Studio Society Art in the Garden day at Ancient Hill Winery. It is Saturday Aug 12th from 10:00 to 4:00. We look forward to seeing you there! Please ignore the date correction I sent last month, it didn't come to pass.

The FCA-Okanagan OASIS show is hanging through to the end of July at the Peachland Art Gallery. It's such a good show I hope you have the chance to get in to see it. I will be in the gallery Sat July 22nd from 10-2 and would love to see you if that's a convenient time for you to stop in. I received the Award of Excellence ribbon for Rain Coming. That was sure a bright spot in the month! Thanks to all of you for your thoughts on my father-in-law's passing!

150 Banners by 150 Kelowna Citizens

The banners will be showcased on July 27th as part of Arts on the Avenue festival at Bernard and Ellis. This was a project sponsored by Festivals Kelowna that was fun to participate in. We were given a canvas banner and freedom to paint a scene in acrylic of anywhere in Canada. It was fun to find that my nocturne scene of Bernard Street and the Paramount Theatre was in the Kelowna Daily Courier. It is my banner that Renata Mills, executive director of Festivals Kelowna is holding in the photo.

Let's hope for clearer skies and some rain soon to help our firefighters!

Just a quick note to correct the date I gave you the other day for the Kelowna Painters Studio Society day at Ancient Hill Winery. It is Sunday Aug 13th from 10:00 to 4:00. Please join us, it's a lovely venue and should be warm enough by then:)

Also, I got word yesterday that my painting "Rain Coming!" was juried into the FCA-Okanagan OASIS show at the Peachland Art Gallery for the month of July. This is a National FCA show.

For my artist friends, I took a one day workshop at the OASIS symposium with Andrew McDermott and really enjoyed it. He packed a tremendous amount of information into the day while keeping it lighthearted and lots of fun! The live-link includes the sign-up info for his upcoming workshop in Nanaimo in September, highly recommend it!

Spring has burst forth in the Okanagan and as art imitates life, it's been just as busy in the studio! I delivered five of the Little Gem paintings to Ritchcraft Gallery in the Mission last week. Four of the paintings depict the seasonal view of the hills along Valley Road. The view caught my eye every time I rode by while practising for our Provence bike ride. The fifth is the view looking toward Enderby from a friend’s farm. If you haven't been in to Ritchcraft, stop in and have a look at all they have to offer!
This month, two of my plein air sketches were accepted in the FCA-Okanagan "Sketches" Exhibit happening online. They were done at South Cooking Lake near Edmonton on a very hot day with lots of bugs but great friends to share it with. At the end of the day as I was packing my gear into the van, one of the sketches fell jam side down on the ground and still has bits of grit embedded! Great memories!

This summer the City of Kelowna is installing 150 hand painted banners in celebration of Canada's 150th birthday. I painted a night scene of the Paramount theatre on Bernard Avenue as a fun tribute to the downtown theatre we really miss. The banners were painted in acrylic for durability so it gave me a chance to haul out my acrylic paints again. I hadn't used them often and not in a few years with our move so it was a good project. I also used the acrylics for “Dancing to His Tune”, a large beach scene and submission to an upcoming show.
The Kelowna Painters Studio Society, will be at Ancient Hills Winery on June 13th and we'd love to have you stop by if you're in town.

Merry Christmas 8x6 Oil on Board $125.00

May you and your family find Peace and Happiness this Christmas Season!

We are feeling Christmas is in the air with a friend's concert to attend and the snow making everything so lovely.

This ornament was sitting next to my desk and called out to be painted the other day. It was fun and I think I'll do a few more.

This afternoon we took the time for a hike in Scenic Canyon and the sun came out.The canyon reminds me of a park in Edmonton that we always enjoyed! And the bonus was that I got a few photos that I will turn into paintings in the New Year.

All the best

Tracey

Terwillegar Gold is one of three paintings I had accepted into the Autumn Gallery show at The Okanagan Mission Community Hall (The Barn), 4409 Lakeshore Road, Kelowna on Saturday November 19th, 9am to 5pm and Sunday November 20, 10am to 4pm. We'd love to see you. This show is an Annual highly anticipated event.

It's been a very busy year in our new place. We spent time getting the house and garden whipped into shape and then I was able to get back to painting. This summer I joined the Kelowna Painters Studio Society at the Rotary Centre downtown and joined the group for the Art in the Garden summer show.

The Federation of Canadian Artists - Okanagan is a very active and growing chapter and a real pleasure to be part of.
